Best Coffee Brewing Method?
I am an avid coffee drinker. Like it's probably more akin to an obsession at this point in my life, but I digress. I'm not ready to have that conversation with myself. Lol. Due to this excessive consumption of coffee, I have tried a lot of methods for brewing coffee at home.
Here are my thoughts on the top three more accessible at home coffee brewing methods:
1. Coffee Pot Brewer
This is hands down the most classic method for making coffee at home. I absolutely love this method for brewing coffee as it feels the least hands on option. You just fill the filter portion with coffee grounds, put water in the reservoir, and then let it go. The coffee brewer will have a full pot of coffee freshly made in about 10-15 minutes. This method is perfect if you drink a lot of coffee or if you are making coffee for multiple people.

The bottom plate that the coffee pot sits on is heated so you don't have to worry about your leftover coffee getting cold throughout the day. This option, however, is not the most ideal for someone who only drinks a cup or two of coffee.
There are smaller options of this coffee brewer to buy for those individuals, but they are more specific and not as popular as the 8 cup brewer.
So far, this is my favorite method for making coffee at home! I do drink a lot of coffee though, so any left over coffee from this I would just put in the fridge for iced coffee later.
2. Keurig Coffee Maker

This method is a bit more involved in that you need a special type of coffee--K Cups--or at least a special filter in order to brew your usual coffee choice. However, it's not too complicated or expensive of a switch. The K-cups are a bit pricey, but there are sales quite often on certain varieties. The K-cups are very convenient though to use. You just pop one in and go!
Also, if you purchase a reusable cup for your Keurig, then you are free to use any type of ground coffee that you please in the Keurig. It also reduces the amount of waste that you are creating in your kitchen. (This is what I have done for my Keurig.)
Now, this method is perfect if you just want one cup of coffee. It is most decidely not set up for multiple cups of coffee. Due to this, it is a method that does become a bit frustrating if you want multiple cups within a short time span. However, I don't run into this mood very often so it isn't that big of a deal for me.
One issue that I have run into with this method, though, is that the coffee tends to be a bit weaker than what I like. I'm not sure if this is an issue with the amount of coffee I'm putting in the reusable cup or that I am just purchasing K-cups with weaker coffee, but it is something to consider when picking out your coffee method. If you like very bold, strong coffee, then this method may not be the best for you.
3. Pour Over

Essentially, all you are doing is putting coffee grounds in your filter and then pouring hot water slowly in circles over the coffee grounds. Then within 10 minutes, you have a nice, bold cup of coffee!
The only intricate part is making sure that you use the right ratio of coffee to water. There are a lot of resources online to find what this ratio is for stronger vs. weaker coffee.
I highly recommend this method, as it is my current favorite to use, but I acknowledge that is the most involved of the three methods I've discussed so far. This is because you need to stand by the coffee maker and observe the brewing process. You can't just set it up and then come back later to freshly brewed coffee. It is a manual process. However, it is a very rewarding process.

I hope that this blog entry has you helped you in some way to better understand some basic coffee making methods and to hopefully help you find the method that works best for you!

Kat
